Kodachadri trek distance is almost 10-12 km, and it takes approximately 5 to 6 hours to complete the trek one way.     Kodachadri Trek Tour Package Itinerary

    Day 1: Leaving from Bangalore for Kodachadri Trek 

    • Our journey will start from Bangalore in the evening. 
    • The following are the available pick-up points from where our tour representative will meet you. 

    –  At 9 pm from Karachi Bakery, Indiranagar

    – At 9:15 pm from the Sky Walk, Domlur

    – At 10:30 pm from the Yeswantpur metro station

    – AT 10:40 pm from People Tree Hospitals, Gorguntepalya  

    • This will be an overnight journey from Bangalore to the Kodachadri Trek starting point in a non-AC vehicle.

    Day 2: Trek to Kodachadri Summit 

    • We will reach our campsite in Nittur village by next morning. 
    • Freshen up, have a delicious breakfast at the campsite before going for the trek. 
    • After breakfast, we will trek towards the Kumble Village and the Hidlumane Waterfalls. 
    • Enjoy trekking through lush green forests and soak in the mesmerising views of the series of 6 cascading waterfalls. 
    • After a break, we will resume trekking towards the Kodachadri peak. 
    • On the way up, you can have your packed lunch. 
    • While trekking in the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary area, you might witness a variety of flora and fauna. 
    • We will reach at the Kodachadri Summit by early evening. 
    • Enjoy the breathtaking views of the panoramic Western Ghats and witness a magical sunset. 
    • After sunset, we will start trekking back to the campsite. 
    • After reaching at the campsite, you can enjoy a campfire session and a delicious dinner, followed by an overnight stay.

    Day 3: Visit to Nagara Fort and Departure 

    • Wake up to a beautiful sun rising from the mountains and admire the surrounding views. 
    • Have breakfast at the campsite and pack your bags for the return journey. 
    • On the way back to Bangalore, we will visit Nagara Fort, which is one of the famous Kodachadri Shimoga tourist places nearby.
    • Discover Fort’s rustic charm, explore the beautiful surroundings and resume your journey back to Bangalore. 
    • After reaching Bangalore, you’ll be dropped off at the selected drop-off points.

    What is the distance from Bangalore to Kodachadri trek base?

    The distance between the Nittur village (Kodachadri Trek base) and Bangalore is around 400 to 415 kilometres. You can easily cover this distance by road, which would take around 8 to 9 hours by bus or car. The route taking you to Nittur village from Bangalore passes through Tumkur, Shivamogga, and Kollur. Upon reaching Nittur, you can start the trek. 

    Yes, the Kodachadri Trek is considered safe for beginners with good physical health. The well-defined trails and less technical sections make it a moderate-level trek. However, you might face some challenges while trekking through a few sections near Hidlumane Falls, as the rocks are slippery in this area. 

    You can easily reach the Kodachadri Trek starting point from Bangalore through various available modes of transport. An overnight bus journey from Bangalore to Kollur is one of the most common ways. Kollur is the nearest town to the trek’s start point, and you can easily reach Nittur in around 20 to 25 minutes by jeep or rickshaw. Alternatively, you can also self-drive or hire a private taxi to Kollur and reach the base village. The distance between the places is around 400 to 415 km, and it would take almost 8 to 9 hours. 

    Yes, permits are required for the Kodachadri Trek as it falls within the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. You need to get permission from the forest department before starting the trek. These permits can be obtained online or offline from the office. But people trekking with us don’t have to worry about it, as permits are already included in the package, and our team will take care to obtain all the required permits for our guests. 

    Yes, while trekking towards the Kodachadri summit, trekkers will come across the beautiful Hidlumane Falls. Those who choose to start the trek from Nittur will get to see these 6 to 7 series of waterfalls along the way. These waterfalls make the trek even more interesting and add an adventurous element. You can also take a refreshing break during the trek. 

    Camping is restricted on the Kodachadri Trek. Located in the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, this is a protected area, and the forest department has restricted camping due to safety reasons. However, homestays and guesthouses are available on the trekking route and near Nittur (base village). Our Kodachadri trek package includes staying in a homestay on a shared basis. 

    Food availability during the Kodachadri Trek is limited, so trekkers need to be prepared for the same. However, we provide 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner, and 1 lunch during the journey, you might not find any dedicated food stalls along the trail. It is important to carry snacks such as dry fruits, energy bars, and biscuits. 

    The Kodachadri Trek can be done in the monsoon, but it comes with significant challenges. The region receives heavy rainfall, making the trail slippery. Leeches are common during this time. While the beauty and lush greenery of the area are at their peak during monsoon, trekking can be challenging, especially for beginners. Trekkers must be well-prepared with rain gear and wear waterproof trekking shoes with good grip. 

    The mobile network on the Kodachadri trek is generally limited. You might find connectivity in open areas or near the peak, mostly from Airtel or BSNL. However, don’t rely on the mobile network, especially in a densely forested area. You must inform your family or friends about the trek plan because staying connected while trekking might be difficult. 

    Yes, driving by jeep to a certain point on the Kodachadri Peak is possible. There is a 12 to 14 km long rough-paved jeep track starting from Nittur. You cannot ride in your vehicle as it can be dangerous, and it is not allowed. You can also opt to trek to the peak and then choose a jeep ride for the descent to save energy. 

    The best time for Kodachadri trek from Bangalore is the post-monsoon and winter months (from September to February). You can enjoy trekking in cool and pleasant weather without worrying about harsh weather conditions. Post-monsoon season rewards trekkers with stunning views of lush greenery, stunning views, and clear skies. Avoid monsoon and peak summers, as the weather conditions can be harsh, and it is risky to trek on slippery trails (monsoon season). 

    Policies

    Kudremukh is a perfect weekend trek. If you are bored with your city’s hustle-bustle life and want to spend some quality time with yourself and with your friends away from your city, there is no better place to go other than Kudremukh. You can go there any time of the year. You can do it in snow or no snow, rain or no rain. The place is open all year. The path from base camp to the top of Kudremukh is well-defined, safe, and structured. Anyone, instead it is a first-time trekker, or an experienced trekker is allowed here. If you plan your trip to Kudremukh, it is perfect, but do not forget to keep things following things in your mind:- 
      • Carry minimum weight.
      • The trek takes place through eco-friendly zones and does not encourage littering. 
      • Do not wander off on your own at any point during the trek. 
      • Alcohol and smoking are not allowed. 
      • The decision of the trek leader will be final and binding. 
      • Delays may occur due to weather conditions 
      • Go for a medical check-up before embarking on this trek. Any person with health conditions like Asthma etc. is advised not to go for this expedition. However, if they so decide, it is at their own risk. 
      • Please ensure that you are carrying personal medications. 
      • Please take care of your baggage. 
      • Carefully follow the instructions of the trek leader.
      • Don’t play loud music on the way up there and at the top. Many people do this trek to find peace. Use your headphones, instead of showing others your party-animal side. Let there be peace in the mountains.
    • Any cancellation made 60 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 20% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
    • Any cancellation made 30 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 30% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
    • Any cancellation made 15-30 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 50% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
    • Any cancellation made 0-15 days prior to the date of departure, would levy 100% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
    • Due to any restrictions such as sudden government policies or regulations, or unprecedented weather conditions, activities and tours may be nonoperational and be canceled.
    • In cases such as these, operators will attempt to cater to the traveler with an alternative that is feasible in nature. However, any refund would not be catered to.
    • Any refund applicable will be processed within 7 business days.

    Please Note: Due to non-availability of permits for Saturday morning trek, we can shift you to Sunday morning trek. In this case, also the trekker will reach back on Sunday night/Monday morning itself.

    • Carry essential items: When packing for your trip, make sure to carry essentials like warm clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun.
    • Be mindful of local customs: Kerala has a rich cultural heritage, and visitors are expected to be respectful of local customs and traditions. Dress modestly when visiting temples and other religious places, and avoid public displays of affection.
