The trek starts from Bhagavathi Nature Camp with a gradual ascent through dense forests, and the terrain becomes steeper and rockier as you approach the summit.     Kurinjal Peak Trek Itinerary

    Day 1: Pick-up from Bangalore and Journey to Chikmagalur

    • Our journey to Kurinjal Peak in Chikmagalur will start from Bangalore on a Friday evening. 
    • You will be picked up from Indiranagar, Domlur, and Yesvantpur for this overnight journey.

    Day 2: Being the Kurinjal Peak Trek 

    • We will reach the Kurinjal Peak trek base camp by Saturday morning. 
    • Start your morning with breakfast and get ready for the trek. 
    • After breakfast, we will head towards the Kudremukh National Park and complete the necessary formalities. 
    • After completing the formalities, we will start trekking towards the Kurinjal Peak. 
    • After 3 to 5 hours of trekking, you will reach the summit, where you can enjoy a delicious dinner with panoramic views. 
    • Return to the base camp by evening for dinner, followed by an overnight stay.

    Day 3: Bangalore Departure

    • Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the campsite. 
    • After breakfast, we will visit the Samse Tea estate. 
    • Return to your accommodation, check out, and board your vehicles for departure. 
    • En route, we will visit the Hanging Bridge and Belur Temple. 
    • After this, you can have a self-sponsored lunch and resume the return journey to Bangalore. 
    • We will reach Bangalore by 8 PM.

    Can the Kurinjal Peak trek be done in one day from Bangalore?

    No, completing the Kurinjal Peak Trek in one day from Bangalore can be difficult because of the travel distance between the places. Bangalore is around 330 to 350 kilometres away from Kurinjal Peak, and a one-way road journey would take approximately 6 to 8 hours to complete. Additionally, the distance of Kurinjal Peak is 10 to 14 kilometres (both ways), and it takes 4 to 6 hours to complete the trek, depending on the individual’s fitness pace. 

    Both Kudremukh and Kurinjal Peak Treks are located within the Kudremukh National Park, but offer separate trekking experiences. Kurinjal Peak stands 5,751 ft tall, offering a 14 km moderate trek through streams, forests, and grasslands, with stunning views of the Arabian Sea from the summit. On the other hand, the Kudremukh Trek is more difficult, with an elevation of 6,214 ft and a more than 20 km long trekking trail passing through grasslands and dense Shola forests. Kurinjal Peak does not attract a huge crowd, while Kudremukh Trek is famous among seasoned trekkers. 

    Trekkers should not rely on the mobile network during the Kurinjal Peak Trek. While you might get BSNL network connectivity around the base, the network connection is not stable along the trail or at the peak. Therefore, trekkers should be prepared to trek without a mobile network and inform their friends or family about no network availability. 

    Yes, sunrises and sunsets can be seen from the Kurinjal Peak. You can enjoy the views of the rising or setting sun, painting the surrounding landscapes in different colours. Several trekkers aim to reach the summit by early evening or morning to catch these mesmerising views. 

    Fresh water streams can be seen during the initial part of the trek, but the availability of drinking water is not guaranteed. Trekkers should carry a reusable water bottle to store at least 2 to 3 litres of water. Keeping yourself hydrated is crucial during the trek. 

    While there is no such age restriction for the Kurinjal Peak trek, it is not recommended for children below 10 due to its moderate difficulty, which involves trekking on diverse terrains and steep ascents. There is no maximum age requirement as long as individuals are fit and their health conditions are good.  

    The moderately challenging Kurinjal Peak Trek is ideal for beginners with a good fitness level. The trail offers a blend of steep climbs, grasslands, rocky patches, dense forests, and gradual ascent. While prior trekking experience is not required, a basic fitness level and stamina are is must for a comfortable and enjoyable trek. Beginners should opt for a guided group trek for support and safety. 

    It takes almost 6 to 8 hours to cover a distance of 10 to 16 km (both ways). The duration of the Kurinjal Peak Trek can vary depending on the fitness level and pace of trekkers. It would take almost 3 to 5 hours to reach the summit (one way). It is advised to start early so that you can get ample time to enjoy the scenic views and trek at a comfortable pace. 

    The Kruinjal Peak is located within the protected area of Kudremukh National Park, and camping is not allowed in that area. However, you can find accommodation in tents or homestays near the base camp or Mullodi village. These stay options are ideal for those looking for a camping-like experience. 

    Yes, trekkers need forest department permits for the Kurinjal Peak trek. As the peak falls under the protected area of Kudremukh National Park, taking permission from the forest department is necessary. These permits are easily available at the Kudremukh forest checkpoint. However, individuals booking the Kurinjal Peak trek package with us don’t have to worry about obtaining permits, as they are already included in the package. We also have an experienced guide, as trekking without a guide is not allowed due to safety reasons. 

    Policies

    • Upon booking, the traveller will receive a confirmation voucher via email, within 24 hours.
    • In the special cases of slots not being available, feasible alternatives will be provided to the customer, in regards to the customer’s preference. In such cases, a new voucher would be sent via email, consisting of the new travel details.
    • Any cancellation made 20 days prior to the date of departure, would levy a 30% of total tour cost as cancellation charges.
    • Any cancellation made within 7-20 days prior to the date of departure, would levy a 60% of total tour cost as cancellation charges.
    • Any cancellation made within 0-7 days prior to the date of departure, would levy a 100% of total tour cost as cancellation charges.
    • Due to any restrictions such as sudden government policies or regulations, health hazards, medical emergencies, or unprecedented weather conditions, activities and tours may be nonoperational and be cancelled. In cases such as these, operators will attempt to cater to the traveller an alternate, which is feasible in nature. However, any refund would not be catered.
    • Any refund applicable will be processed within 7 business days.

    Please Note: Due to non-availability of permits for Saturday morning trek, we can shift you to Sunday morning trek. In this case, also the trekker will reach back on Sunday night/Monday morning itself.

    • Carry essential items: When packing for your trip, make sure to carry essentials like warm clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun.
    • Be mindful of local customs: Kerala has a rich cultural heritage, and visitors are expected to be respectful of local customs and traditions. Dress modestly when visiting temples and other religious places, and avoid public displays of affection.
